Conversations are like a dance where you don’t want to step on your partner’s toes. Learning the tricks to keeping a conversation flowing is imperative if you want to succeed in anything.

Any verbal communication you have requires that you know how to keep it flowing smoothly. Whether you’re in an interview or at a party or chatting with a friend, you can learn to be more in charge and let the other person know you’re paying attention.

But there’s one sure way to kill a conversation or stop it dead in its tracks, maybe the way one of your parents did to you. Remember when you did something they had expressed you were not to do? What did that person ask?

Think back and remember that word you really never wanted to hear? Was it WHY? Yes, that three-letter word is a sure show-stopper, and you will immediately set the situation up to be one of confrontation, not collaboration. That isn’t your intention, I know.
