Mommy, Will I Be Shot and Killed in School Today?

School used to be a place kids weren’t fond of because of tests, but now they fear being murdered in their classrooms where no one can protect them.

The end of the term before school recess is usually one of both joyous relief for months free of school and schoolwork, but it is also highly stressful for others. Some will graduate, some will not do well and some will see it as an opportunity to get even or to get rid of those they hate.

Today, in a small town in Texas, an 18-year-old boy, killed his grandmother and decided it was the day to use that gun he had and that would end the lives of 19 children and one teacher. The kids and their teacher had no chance because they were what is known as “soft targets.” In other words, it was a place that seemed safe but couldn’t possibly be safe from anyone with the right equipment and a determination to end lives. The shooter is dead but that’s no consolation.

Yes, this will be the last end of the school year for 19 children and two adults and they will not enjoy a few months of freedom and happiness. Instead, they will be put into coffins as their parents and families and friends and the country are once again shocked.
