Medical Fraud May Be One of Many Factors Related to EHR

Medical fraud has not only cost patients/consumers millions of dollars but has also created false medical records, leading to potentially inaccurate diagnoses and unneeded treatments.

Medical records are something that all patients need to track and correct, as needed, because they may mean the difference between adequate treatment and/or medical fraud. The goal here is to inform and to arm you with useful information and insights that will enable you to comprehend this complicated problem and its ramifications for the healthcare sector. One area of great concern is medical fraud, which can easily slip through the loops created in EHR.

According to United States Sentencing Commission:

The median loss for these offenses was $1,002,407; 18.8% involved loss amounts of $150,000 or less; 17.3% involved loss amounts greater than $9,500,000

This is a serious concern and threatens the integrity of the healthcare system. It entails dishonest acts carried out by people or organizations for their own benefit, which cause financial losses, impaired patient care, and diminished confidence.
