Pristine lawns with vibrant, clean grass and landscaping is an American dream we can no longer afford in terms of our health.

A beautiful, green, clean lawn with surrounding shrubbery is part of the American dream, but the price we pay for it may be too high—early death. No, that’s not exaggerating the facts here. The issue is falling off the radar in too many communities and causing unseen health problems that begin a downward spiral of ill health.

With the power to blast air up to 280 miles per hour, blowers can drive birds and insects away, degrade topsoil, and scatter pollen, fertilizer, and pesticides into the atmosphere

In 2022, the global leaf blower market was estimated to be worth US$12.10 billion. One of the dominant segments was handheld, with 40% of the market share. The growing need to maintain the ideal conditions of backyards and lawn areas helped the residential segment hold a 54% market share in 2022.

The health effects of gas-powered lawn and garden equipment are well documented and include breathing difficulties, cardiovascular problems, asthma attacks and other lung health issues, fine particle pollution, nitrogen oxides (NOx), dementia, hypertension, hearing loss, and neurologic disorders in children.
