I've seen far too many patients slip from near-normalcy into the walking dead and some, quite young, suddenly die. One older man was in partial care at a CMHC for almost a year (treated for depression). No one thought to check his heart. He had major cardiac disease, not mental illness. What meds were they putting him on? And, oh, the psychiatrist HAD FAILED HIS BOARDS 3X.
