I understand your wife's sense of loss. I once got a very young, sickly kitten from a shelter and she saw me as her mother. We shared a wonderful life until she had a stroke at 12 yrs. I still remember her and love the memory. Tell your wife she's doing a wonderful thing for those kittens.
