Eternal Youth Through the Quest to Avoid Death and the Panic of the Wealthy
Death is an endpoint the superwealthy are trying to avoid at all costs, but we have to question the results of their experimentation and their reasons.
All life comes to an end, or so it would seem, but there are those with superwealth who want eternal life. Years ago and still today, people paid to have their bodies cryopreserved in special chambers or their heads preserved. “The minimum cost is $200,000 for a body and $80,000 for the brain alone.” The thinking is that once a cure for the illness that caused their deaths was found, they could be reanimated, possibly in a newer, younger body, and go on to live forever — or at least for another 50 years or so. I suppose Mary Shelley would have used this for more stories.
Currently, according to recent statistics provided by one company, about 200 bodies and heads are waiting for that day of awakening when they will walk the Earth again. According to specialists in neuroscience, it is a fruitless effort based on a lack of scientific evidence. But the uberwealthy aren’t stopping at this measure because they are continuing to explore ways to regain youth and defeat the aging process.
