Bot Attack on My Account
Not everyone who decides to follow me will receive my articles.
It was too good to be true and it isn’t. When I signed into my Medium account today, I was floored by the number of new followers and the numbers that subscribed to get my articles. Curiously, all of them came from gmail accounts and that alone peaked my concern. No names, but long strings of letters in place of names.
All of them will be carefully inspected and blocked. Yes, it will take a long time, so I’m asking all of you to be patient. We will get through this. Any of you who want to follow or receive emails will be verified as your request appears on my indicator. I will then verify you and give you the email address for receipt of my articles. Yes, I changed it temporarily now that I have to contend with this attack.
In the meantime, know that you can read my articles as they are posted. Thanks for your patience.
Update: Medium has told me that this was something of a “spin” thing where people try to create a false impression that they have hundreds or thousands more followers than they do have. Was someone trying to do a favor for me? I didn’t do it. But, it’s over now.
